Our Story

Miracle Park Stables Ltd is a small Not-for-Profit Charity based in Monash/Berri in the Riverland, South Australia, focused on providing Mental Health & Wellbeing services, Equine Assisted Learning, Equine Assisted Therapy, Responsive Horsemanship Coaching, Therapeutic Riding, Equine Partnered Experiential Therapy and Christian Coaching.

Mel has been involved with horses for over 30 years and her childhood love of horses and passion for helping people has been the inspiration for founding the charity. For many years Mel wanted to find a way to help people on a foundational level and make a tangible difference in their lives. Mel's experience as a Registered Nurse working with mental health clients has led her to exploring an alternative method to assist people in their journey by partnering with horses to make lasting change. Mel has completed a certification in Equine Partnered Therapeutic Process through Unbridle Your Power - Willow Vetch, a certificate in Christian Coaching through the Australian Institute of Family Counselling, post graduate studies in Mental Health through the University of South Australia, and is currently undertaking a Masters of Counselling Practice at Tabor College.

We have a wonderful team of Arabians, Thoroughbreds, Quarterhorse, Standardbred, Welsh, Shetland and Miniature ponies eager to partner with people to bring healing and wholeness. Horses have an amazing ability to reflect a person's inner thoughts and emotions and provide instant feedback throughout the journey. This provides a unique opportunity for reflection, personal growth and development of emotional regulation.

Equine Partnered Experiential Therapy is offered for complex mental health issues and anyone wanting to delve deeper within themselves in a safe, therapeutic environment. Our trained facilitator will partner with you and our team of beautiful horses and ponies to bring clarity and release from traumas of the past. This type of therapy involves observing and interacting with the equine partners in a therapeutic space, but no riding is involved.

Therapeutic Riding will be available for NDIS participants wanting to connect with these beautiful creatures from a different perspective! Horse riding has been widely recognised for it's therapeutic benefits for people with a disability and can assist with improved balance, coordination, strength and greater range of movement. Therapeutic riding will also help participants to develop self awareness and will improve emotional regulation and social skills. This program is particularly good for children with ADHD and ASD and we will be constructing a sensory obstacle course to incorporate into the therapy.

For those who don’t want any formal coaching or instruction, but just want to spend time with our horses and ponies, we have introduced Horse Time! An unstructured space to just relax and have some fun! Includes mindfulness exercises and games with an equine partner. Opportunity to spend time brushing a pony, or just sitting in the yards and watching them play. Horsemanship demonstrations are available and one-on-one time with your favourite horse or pony is definitely a possibility!

We also offer for Pony Parties! Birthday parties, Christmas parties, celebrations or just a group of friends wanting to have some fun!

The Equine Mindfulness Experience is a new program designed for individuals, families, groups and corporate team building to relax and unwind while also learning about self-care, resilience, boundaries, temperament types and personality profiling to enhance communication. Sessions can run from 2 to 4 hours or the whole weekend depending on group needs. No riding is involved.

Other programs offered will include an Introduction to Responsive Horsemanship over three sessions with a strong focus on personal safety, health & wellbeing and communication skills for both the horse and the participant. Stepping up from this, participants are invited to attend the Responsive Horsemanship Coaching - Ground Skills program which will further develop the foundations outlined during the introductory sessions. Participants will develop an understanding of the correct use of horsemanship tools how to have fun with horses. Communication styles and personality profiling will be explored to further enhance self awareness. Responsive Horsemanship Coaching - Riding Skills will be available for people wanting to learn how to ride a horse built on the foundations of communication and connection. Participants will be able to to partner with one of wonderful team of Arabians or are invited to bring their own horse to improve their relationship and confidence. The Riding Skills program is available once completing the Ground Skills.

Please Note: We do not offer trail riding at this time.
